We may have seen a little quiet of late, but an awful lot has been happening behind the scenes.
We are working very hard on our Heritage Lottery Fund application to apply for the majority of the money to restore our lovely old building. Not only will we restore the building, but we will return it to community use, including the plans for a cafe/coffee shop.
We will be looking to appoint a centre manager that will look after the running of the building as well as the cafe/coffee shop. This appointment is in the future, although we need to plan for this in our HLF application. Along with a centre manager we are also hoping to have a number of volunteers from the community that are willing to help out in the proposed cafe/coffee shop.
We are very keen to know of anyone that thinks they would be willing to help out as a volunteer. There is no obligations, this is purely getting an idea of numbers to help our application.
If you would like to help in the cafe/coffee shop or you know someone that would, please comment below so we can ascertain levels of interest.
We are most lucky to have had one of the signal and telegraph gang members - Ray Wade - who appears in the video himself do a voiceover recording.
It is wonderful to have been able to sit with Ray whilst he spoke over the video, to see and feel how much that time working on the railway ment to him and his colleagues.
Below is the new video with Ray speaking over.
We have had four 360 degree panorama photographs taken by Stephen D'Eath, these are of the four easily accessible rooms in the station. These are:
- Booking Hall
- Ticket Office
- Ladies Waiting Room
- Station Office 1
You need to click the room you'd like to see, this will then load the panorama image that you can click and drag to look around. The interactive panoramas should now work across desktop and mobile devices, the only issue is with certain version of Internet Explorer, due to the way Microsoft make their browsers.
The Big Ask
We invite you to join us between 7:00pm and 8:30pm on Wednesday 11th March 2015 at the Welcome Hall, High Road, Trimley St Mary. This is a community project and we wouldn’t be where we are today without your support. Find out what has happened recently.
We will be in position to give a small update on our Heritage Lottery Fund application and we would also like to get your response to some of our ideas. More importantly join us to share your thoughts and ideas as we are very keen to hear what you have to say about the project.
There will also be refreshments so pop along to the Welcome Hall and say hello, ask questions, and give your views.
We would love to see you.
